    Clink Street
    Southwark, London

    Clink Street is situated along the south bank of the Thames, running from St. Mary's Overy Wharf through to Bank End. This area used to make up the Clink Wharf, but is now consists of converted flats and restaurants! Principle to the location now is the Clink Prison Museum, near to the railway bridge crossing the Thames from Cannon Street.

    Underground (Northern)/Rail: London Bridge - Exit the station and cross Borough High Street to Southwark Cathedral; walk through the cathedral grounds to Cathedral Street on the far side, then bear right toward St. Mary's Overy Wharf (the Golden Hind). Then turn left and follow the road into Clink Street. +

    Bus: London Bridge Bus Map - Southwark Cathedral can be seen on the left of the central map; walk through the cathedral grounds to Cathedral Street on the far side, then bear right toward St. Mary's Overy Wharf (the Golden Hind). Then turn left and follow the road into Clink Street. +

    The old warehouse bridges have since been removed, but the building on Clink Street at the end is still present, now called The Blue House on account of it's vivid blue paintwork!

    Shakespeare's Globe (The Shakespeare Code). Head west under the railway bridge to Bank End, then turn north to the Thames path; follow this west along the Thames bank, passing under Southwark bridge to eventually arrive at Bankside, by the Globe Theatre.

    Clink Street is named after the prison that used to exist on the site, and now remembered by the Clink Prison Museum. The prison wass notorious, and inspired the term to "be in the clink" when locked up.

    Winchester Palace - On the route between Clink Street and St. Mary's Over Wharf can be found the remains of the medieval Winchester Palace, a 13th Century building for the Bishops of Winchester; it was destroyed in a fire during 1814.

    Edward Cullinan Architects - One corner of the Stoney Street/Clink Street junction is in the process of becoming a new development of residential, office, and restaurants.
